if you have had a surgery, and are limited to bending or flexing or have poor feeling in your fingers, these laces make it very easy to wear your existing shoes, with out the need to by velcro type shoe. just by replacing your laces with these, you can now just slip in and out of your shoes and still adjust how snug they are with very little effort.

I first discovered these when I was looking for a way to keep my son's shoes from coming untied. He has special needs and can't tie is shoes due to physical limitations. We wanted to buy “cool” shoes, not just the ones with Velcro. These did the trick. I bought the latest pair of laces for myself. I have a wonderful pair of sneakers that are so comfy. With these new laces, they're perfect.
