I having used this item yet but it stretches out quite a bit. It's base is made out of plastic but the snake part or tubing is made of metal.

Package came in extremely late but it did come in intact and undamaged. Word of caution, though: there is a lot of sharp burrs on the plastic so you might want to wear gloves. The plastic is fairly thin but I did snake my drain with it and it functioned adequately. If it wasn't for the late arrival and the sharp edges along the seams, it would have gotten a five-star rating
