So first the lure is great for the price and works fantastic! I've used the smaller and larger sizes and have been very successful on these landing up to 2.5lb bass just slamming this. One thing I will had though if the lures props are not turning right gently press down on both propellers bending them slightly back towards the tail.

If you want some smallmouth bass topwater action these Heddon baby torpedoes are the way to go, constant strikes and I have landed many 18 plus smallmouth with these lures. They do have their downfalls though, the props on them get beat up very easy and you're constantly having to Bend them back and fourth to get them to spin right. And watch for bouncing them off of shorelines and rocks, can crack causing them to sink while reeling them in. But they are definitely worth it. Tons of of fun!
