I reviewed these machines like crazy. Didn't want to buy something to just return it. This machine did not disappoint. I used gas station ice from their soda machine and the shaved ice came out perfect. Im not sure how trayed ice cubes will work but if you hammer them up in a baggie first they may fit in the top of the machine better. This machine is perfect for the price and my daughters love it
