these are the thickest, warmest, most stretchy of all the brands that LOOK THE SAME. these cost more but, they're twice as thick and a lot more cushy/comfortable than those less expensive. I bought several different brands and these are the best. as far as size, they are anklets for me. I have big feet, size 11. no problem fitting my foot but not mid calf at all:)
