Used two coats of the Miniwax in Dark Walnut for my cedar planters. Obsesssed. Make sure to stain outdoors due to its strong smell. Does drip and stain with no way to clean up. Use a tarp if needed. Used a cotton rag for application.

Beautiful color with a rich finish

I used the Minwax Special Walnut stain on a DIY wood cabinets project, and the color turned out exactly as I hoped. It brought out the natural grain beautifully and gave the wood a rich, warm finish without looking too dark. It was easy to apply, spread evenly, and produced consistent results. The only downside was the drying time. It took longer than I expected before I could move on to the next step of the project. Aside from that, the final appearance was excellent and well worth the wait. I would definitely use this stain again for future woodworking projects!
