Classic for a reason

I keep a few cans of SPAM on hand because it's one of those pantry staples that's always useful. It's incredibly versatile — slice it up and fry it for breakfast with eggs, dice it into fried rice, or throw it in a sandwich. The flavor is salty and savory in that nostalgic way that just works. One of the best things about SPAM is that it keeps forever in the pantry, so it's great to have around when you need a quick meal. It also has a pretty interesting history in that SPAM helped feed soldiers and civilians during World War II, when shelf stable food was incredibly important. The texture crisps up really nicely in a skillet, which makes a big difference compared to eating it straight from the can.
