An excellent bike at an affordable price

Overall this is a great value and I'm excited to have the bike. I like that it's highly upgradable so I can use it mostly stock for now but I can update it later for more demanding trail riding. I was able to assemble it with a couple of Allen keys (4mm, 5mm) and a 15mm wrench for the pedals. * The disc brakes were rubbing slightly so I adjusted those by loosening up the mounting brackets and squeezing the brake levers while retightening the brackets. They also loosened up a bit more after riding the bike and now they're perfect. * The original seat was okay for a few shorter rides but I ended up replacing it with a more comfortable one. * The gears have been shifting just fine without any adjustments needed. * I was concerned that on the 8-speed that perhaps the lowest gear wouldn't be low enough for steeper hills but that hasn't been an issue at all. The lowest gear is quite low. * I changed the stem to a 60mm 35 degree so the bars are up a bit higher and the riding position is more comfortable. * I prefer the 27.5 inch wheels over the 29's because I have shorter legs and I'm not trying to win any races on more serious trails. Also the lower price for the 27.5 model. A couple of smaller issues: 1. The bike arrived without any assembly instructions at all. 2. The kickstand doesn't fit the mounting point on the bike; it's the wrong type of mounting bracket on the kickstand.

Great quality for the price.

I am blown away at the build quality of this. I've built bikes from scratch and ridden some really nice bikes. This is built extremely well. I was comparing this with REI bikes twice the price for my 10 year old and they really aren't worth the premium. Assembly was easy and it was tuned well from the factory. The only thing that needed adjustment was the front caliper- one of the pads was rubbing on the rotor and it was an easy fix. The instructions are very good and I appreciate that torque specs were included for assembly. My kid is psyched about this and I'm so impressed that I'm considering the 29” pro as a knock around bike for myself.

Great quality

Really, really good quality for this price point. The frame is lightweight but sturdy. The gears shift smoothly and easily and the brakes work well. Markedly better quality than the Huffy brand mountain bike that I had tried and returned due to issues with the brakes — it was well worth spending a little more, as this doesn't even seem like a “Walmart bike”. I did swap the seat out for a really comfortable wider one, and I couldn't be happier with this bike. We do mostly gravel and dirt bike trails that aren't really difficult and this bike does great on those trails, but I can't speak to how this would perform on true “mountain bike” trails with a lot of obstacles/rocks/roots/sharp inclines and declines. My husband has a different model of an Ozark Trail bike and loves it too, so we can definitely recommend this brand if you want a solid, good quality bike for everyday riding but aren't looking to spend a lot.
