Innova 3340 Pro Automotive Digital Multimeter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Innova 3340 Professional Automotive Digital Multimeter is a nice addition to my tool chest. Although it is referred to as an automotive meter, owing to the specialized features which are built into this model, it is of course not restricted to automotive applications. The Innova 3340 has a well-rounded and comprehensive set of features and functions which make it an excellent meter for almost any electrical testing application. The Innova 3340 has a hard plastic shell with rubber bumpers at each corner for added protection and shock/drop resistance. The top corner bumpers also have tabs molded into them for retention / storage of the test lead probes. The rear of the case has a swing-out prop-stand and an elastic retention strap. The lightweight unit, which weighs about 0.5 lbs, comes with the following standard accessories: • Needle Point Test Leads with Caps • Nylon Fabric, Zipper Closure Pouch Type Carrying Case • Temperature Probe • Inductive RPM Clamp Some of the major features and functions of the Innova 3340 include: • Auto Ranging • Auto Shutoff • Overload Protection • Reverse Polarity Protection • 10 Megohm Input Impedance to protect vehicle ECUs • UL Listed (Essential for any high-voltage testing device) • Range to 15 Amps DC • Min/Max Hold Data • AC/DC Volts 0-600 • Resistance 0-40 MegΩ • DC Amps 0-15A • AC Amps 0-400mA • Continuity Test 0-200Ω • Temperature -58°F - +752°F / -50°C - +400°C (Accuracy +/- 5° Automotive specialty functions include: • Frequency 0-2MHz • Duty Cycle 0.1 – 99.9% (Solenoid / ActuatorTesting) • Pulse Width 0-999 ms Positive (Solenoid / ActuatorTesting) • Dwell Angle • RPM 0 – 10,000 (Distributorless, Conventional and Coil-On-Plug Ignition Systems) • Diode Test 0-2V (Alternators) The Innova 3340 has an easy to read 4 digit LCD display, however it is not backlit. The meter is powered by 2 AA batteries. The battery compartment cover is secured with a tiny screw, rather than a latch closure. The included storage pouch has sufficient space to store the meter and the included accessories, as well as the User Manual. There is an integral elastic strap inside the case to secure the meter, but the accessories are stored loose in the case. I am storing the meter, secured under that elastic strap, with the LCD display facing the rear of the case to avoid any of the loose accessories from possibly damaging the LCD screen. The labels of the controls on the front panel are quite small, and may be very difficult to read if you have less than perfect vision. Fortunately, many of the selections are displayed on the digital LCD display while you rotate the selection dial to the miniature icons and labels. Nevertheless, dealing with the small labels and low contrast format can present a challenge. The feature set for the Innova 3340 is fairly comprehensive and covers most common meter use applications, as well as the handful of automotive specialty features. One feature that I do miss and wish it had, is capacitance testing. The Innova 3340 is straightforward and easy to use. It appears to be accurate for all of the functions that I have used thus far, however I do not have any means of validating accuracy at this time. Overall, I think that the Innova 3340 is a great digital multimeter. The addition of the automotive specific functionality is a nice bonus.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I don't use my multimeter a ton so 10 or so years ago I had bought a cheap meter and have been using it well it went caput so not that I have this one I won't ever skimp again. This one is more accurate and feels a lot sturdier, plus it has a few more option that definitely make my life easier
