I believe this is the one of the most energy efficient, lowest maintenance humidifiers that you can find at this price point. It is an extremely simple device yet quite effective. This is an evaporative humidifier so it uses a wick (“filter”) to capture water and blow it into the air without producing visible mist. This needs to be replaced at regular intervals (depends on your region, usage, and maintenance). Unlike ultrasonic (“filter free”) humidifiers, this produces no white dust from the mineral content of the water, which is great in Arizona where the mineral content in the water is extremely high. When I used an ultrasonic humidifier my room was coated in dust within a couple days with light use. With this humidifier you can fill it with your tap water and have no dust produced because it is all caught in the filter. Huge advantage.
