Acer Nitro V 15.6” FHD IPS 165Hz Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i5-13420H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 with 8GB GDDR7 VRAM, 16GB RAM, 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, Obsidian Black

This is my current newest laptop and daily driver, after I just purchased and received it on January 4th. I do all my work and gaming on it, and for the price I got it at, $549, it feels phenomenal and a steal! The body is plastic, although a very thick and sturdy plastic, it does not flex or bend if I press on it. It is a 4.66 pound laptop, so it's always best to hold in a way you will support its weight and not put stress on the body of it. The i5 13th gen, although older, keeps up well with the RTX 5050 and is able to churn out good FPS and performance and maintain good temperatures. I did not have this performance out of the box, however. I spent about a day trying to figure out why I was having a lot of instability issues and performance issues, where FPS would jump around wildly and so would GPU usage. It would crash games after a few minutes and sometimes blue screened. So, if anyone has these issues out of the box, follow these 4 steps: (1.) Go to the Acer website for your exact Acer Nitro model, this one is the ANV-15-52, and find the downloads. (2.) Find the VGA Update file for RTX 5050, and the VBIOS update for the RTX 5050. Download them and update them. (3.) Open your pre-installed NVIDIA App and do a CUSTOM install of the Game Ready Drivers, and specifically select Clean Install. This made my Acer Nitro do everything it promised. I also got a lot of performance gain by upgrading the 16GB RAM to 32GB, and changing the installed 512GB Western Digital SSD into a faster 1TB Crucial P310 SSD. I also use a cheap laptop cooler (KLIM) to keep my temperatures down to maximize performance. This has gotten me up to 130 FPS in Ghost of Tsushima with DLSS and other games at native resolutions with 65-100 FPS at highest settings. Other things to note, although the plastic body is of good quality, it is like a sponge for your finger oils. Make sure (though you should be regardless with a nice piece of equipment) to keep it quite clean. I typically just wipe the keys and touchpad with a screen cloth and then close it and wipe the edges of the lid where I touched it. This should keep your laptop looking brand new. Some others online have complained about this laptop having a battery that will lose charge while it is still charging if you are gaming, I have never had this issue, as I think some of the newer ANV-15-52 models have a newer and larger battery. Some research told me those batteries were around 3980mAh and the one in my laptop is around 4980mAh, and that keeps it charged and lasts a long time. Regardless, NitroSense blocks you from gaming if you are not connected to your charger. With all of this said, I am very happy with this laptop and especially at the price point I got it. I highly recommend if you are able to get it at a good price.
