I was a fan of the Liberty 4s, but they had consistent problems with the ANC popping in and out. Very disorienting, very annoying. I also disliked that the Liberty 4s would falsely detect that I took an earbud out and pause my music (and also deactivate the touchscreen button on the side so I couldn't easily hit play again). BUT...the sound quality was pretty good. Better than all my other earbuds. Not my full-sized headphones though. The Liberty 5 fixes all complaints about the active noise cancelling problems. In fact they are so good with ANC on that within ONE SECOND all the white noise of the world fades away. This is a fantastic improvement over the 4s. The Liberty 5s have not made a false-detection of me taking an earbud out, ever. I haven't experienced the finicky ANC pop-in and out at all. The ANC blocks even more sound, my favorite improvement over the 4s, and the sound quality is better than my full-sized headphones. I have a small quibble: the call/music controls on the Liberty 5s have changed from the 4s and I'm not sure I like it. The 4s had a touchscreen close to the top of the stem of the earbud, and occasionally I would hit it without meaning to. I honestly didn't mind that a whole lot, it wasn't a deal breaker like the ANC problems. But the 5s changed to a "pinch" mode, where I have to pinch the stem (near the same spot on the 4s) but I have to hold the pinch for a specific length of time that feels too long, especially if I have to "double-pinch". Overall the 5s are amazingly solid (and right now they're on sale for $100, heavily considering getting another set in a different color lol).
