I have used Lactaid brand milk for many years. I prefer the Lactaid brand whole milk, or the 2% milk. Both products have a great taste and a rich texture, especially the whole milk.
Of all the similar brands of "lactose free" milk products, Lactaid brand is always my first choice. While no brand can 100% eliminate all of the symptoms associated with lactose intolerance, for those who have a severe case of lactose intolerance, I found that by combining the Lactaid brand supplemental caplets, or their "fast acting" chewables, with Lactaid brand milk, it proved to be even more effective "for me."
However, I highly advise that anyone interested in consuming ANY NEW PRODUCT for the first time, even over the counter products, first consult with their doctor or their nutritionalist prior to consumption. Eventhough, as far as I know, their caplets and chewables are not considered to be "medication" it's always best to let your doctor know about everything you're introducing to your body for the first time and follow their advice. Everybody's body is different, so what may work symptom free for one person my not be compatible with someoneelse. Especially those taking different kinds of prescription medications. (Just as a precaution.)
I found only two cons with this product. Number one, as with all products of this type on the market, the price is very expensive. (No matter the brand name, they are all overpriced in my opinion, because they cannot eliminate all of the negative symptoms associated with dairy products 100%.)
However, products that are "lactose free" are still worth using because consuming regular dairy products by those who are extremely lactose intolerant can prove to be harmful, (in some extreme cases of lactose intolerance,) not to mention the level of discomfort at the least. So, this is a "Pro" when using said products.
The second "Con" if you will, is that the more milk you drink, your lactose intolerant symptoms become just as bad as if you had drank (cheaper), regular milk brands, that force you to have to combine having to use their supplemental caplets, which are also extremely expensive and can cause severe constipation if too many caplets or chewables are consumed in too close of an interval.
However, despite the high prices, I still purchase the aforementioned products because for me, the only alternative is to completely stop consuming my favorite foods. I've tried other similar brands and did not like them. They had a bland taste and had the texture of skim milk. (Which I totally hate!) And many of them were even more expensive as the Lactaid brand!
So, my plan is to stick with my Lactaid brand products and campaign for them to reduce the prices to become more affordable.
