This is like sleeping on top of a soft and cozy comforter. It is a nice quilted mattress pad and feels breathable. It is not 2" thick but about 1". It flattens when you lie on it just as a comforter would. I had to air it out for 3 days as I am sensitive to any chemical scent and can also be washed in commercial washer. I got this on a flash deal for around 30.00 and am satisfied, it is comfortable on my older mattress.
