my 7 yr old sleeps on the top and my 2 year old is on the bottom. it's perfect and they both love it :) as my youngest gets older though, I'll have to watch for her bonking her head. luckily she is small right now, but since the top bunk isn't super high, that means not a ton of space for the toddler in the bottom. If you have older kids needing the bottom bed, I would consider something else.
