PNY brand holds it weight: Fast %26 affordable.

This PNY Pro Elite V2 1TB USB 3.2 Gen2x1 Type-C External Portable SSD performs materially in line with its advertised specs—and that’s not something I say lightly. Delivery made me slightly nervous when they left it below the building mailboxes with a blurry photo to prove it, but thankfully my apartment tenants are honest folk. I understand on a USB 3.2, you’re realistically capped around ~1,050–1,100 MB/s due to interface overhead. In that context, it sustained ~940 MB/s read and ~995 MB/s write (SEQ1M QD8) and is effectively near-ceiling performance. There’s no meaningful headroom left on this interface, so what you’re seeing is real throughput, not marketing inflation. What’s right: Throughput is consistent with bus limits → indicates no controller bottleneck Write speeds holding near read speeds → good NAND cache behavior (not collapsing under load) No obvious thermal throttling at this level (assuming your tests weren’t burst-only) What’s worth challenging: “Up to 1,100 MB/s” is technically accurate but only achievable under ideal queue depth / synthetic conditions SEQ1M QD8 is favorable benchmarking—real-world workloads (QD1–QD4) will be lower, as expected What’s unclear / potential risk: Long-duration write stability (SLC cache exhaustion not tested here) Thermal behavior under sustained transfers (especially in compact enclosures) Controller/NAND longevity vs competitors (PNY is solid, but not top-tier like Samsung T-series) Bottom line: For a USB 3.2 Gen2 drive, this is operating exactly where it should—arguably at the upper edge of what the interface allows. If your goal is reliable near-gigabyte-per-second transfers without jumping to Thunderbolt pricing, this is a strong, no-nonsense performer. If anything, the limiting factor here isn’t the SSD—it’s the interface.

Small and lightweight

Seems faster than HDD but hard to tell. Item is very small and lightweight. Much smaller than it appears on the photos. Overall works well.
