The installing the device was simple and it only takes a 9V battery for it to operate. It has a test button to make sure the device sound is loud and working properly. Great device and perform very well.

Like anyone, I rely on a smoke detector for the safety of the family members in the house. This one turned out to be great. It's pretty bare bones when it comes to features. However, it does everything it needs to. The simplistic nature of this smoke detector actually makes it very simple to use. The instructions are there for reference if something is confusing. Installing it is super easy too. I did a couple tests with a small flame and it seems to respond well to the smoke. I only used a match to start and it was sensitive even without a huge fire. The detection range is quite large and is well detected farther off to the opposite corner which gives much more peace of mind. For short-term use, it will likely be months before I can gauge battery life and durability. However, with the way it's working now, the battery life of the one the battery it comes with seems to be going long. The item, being a no-frills kind of detector, doesn't have the reinforcements to make it closer to damage proof, for what it is and what it does, it still feels durable enough to last.
