My daughter is pretty tall for a 5 year old. She's a size 11.5 but as we know, it's hard to find half sizes so I had to purchase size 12. My daughter is slim and the boots fit well with a thicker sock. They do not fall off and she is able to walk easily with them. The inside fluffy cushion helps and so does the thicker suck. The sole is very durable. It is more of an ankle boot, but does cover some of the leg.
