When the items arrived, I opened the boxes and saw that the shelves are made of metal somewhat on the thinner side, a bit flimsy - and I had doubts. After I put them together, though, they turned out pretty sturdy - to my amazement. Easy to put together, spacious, sturdy. The only thing that remains to be seen is how they hold up with time - corrosion resistance, etc. They're in a garage in Florida, after all. Time will tell... Assembly tip: I decided to not bang the included little mallet on the metal pieces, so I don't bend them. Instead, I picked up a small leftover piece of a 2x4, placed it against the metal piece, and banged a regular mallet on the wood. Much quicker and no dents :)

Very sturdy. Could support the weight of anything you could possibly consider storing on it. Came with instructions but none needed. Assembles just as common sense would tell you. No screws, nut, bolts, etc to mess with. Though technically not required, a rubber mallet would be handy to ensure the fittings are securely locked in their holes.
