Better than expected quality at a reasonable price

I am a little mad at Cerwin Vega at the moment, but their mistake led me to this speaker. I actually tried ordering two XLS12 speakers, the order was canceled because, as I found out, they only had one in stock. ??? I tried ordering two XLS15 speakers. Same thing happened. Why do they have only one in stock of these flagship models? I pondered their XLS215 speaker because that would be the next step up. I have a 13'x16' space to play with. The XLS215 would be overkill, and I seriously almost hit the finish purchase tab on a set of that speaker. I had even jumped ship to BiC America and tried to buy two of their 3 way 15" Eviction speakers. I absolutely cannot stand expensive tower speakers with a whole bunch of 6.5" or smaller subs/main drivers. Not enough lower end frequencies. Instead, I went to the next speaker down from the XLS12, which happened to be this XLS28. It is actually a little shorter and shallower than the tower speaker it is replacing from a far more expensive branded bi-ampable speaker that has three 6.5" woofer/midrange drivers and a 1" dome tweeter This XLS28 is substantially wider, making the overall internal displacement about a half cubic foot more, and have better ported dual 8" subs (dual rear ports) with the 6.5" mid and 1" dome tweater in a better horn shaped waveguide. This is also bi-ampable, which comes in very handy with my use. After hooking a pair of these up to a 7.1.2/4 channel surround system with Klipsch Dolby Atmos reference speakers sitting on top of them, and working a little bit to get them dialed in (Onkyo TX RZ250 receiver straight into the 6.5" mid and 1" tweeter, pre amped out to a Behringer A800 to the bottom dual 8" subs, you know, typical poor man's setup), these are sounding amazing. YouTube music, Pandora music, FM radio, 4K Ultra Dolby Atmos Blu-ray movies, streaming services, and over the air tv channels, even classic tv channels, all sound pretty amazing for not being expensive audiophile speakers. They actually produce a decent lower frequency bass that regular more expensive theater tower speakers just cannot produce. But because I didn't end up getting 12" or 15" three ways, I did upgrade my 24 year old Sony 10 inch 200 watt powered sub to a 15" OSD FS15 powered sub. There is no frequency loss. there. The bass from these 8" subs flow seamlessly into the bass from the 15" powered sub. They handle well paired with the Behringer A800 amp. In the end, Cerwin Vega's mistake was for the better. I get better highs than I expected, better mids than I expected, and I get the punch that two 8" subs can deliver without being too bassy and muddling the rest of the sound. Yes, you can tune these to near audiophile quality. Even though I have only one other Cerwin Vega speaker in the setup (a center channel SL25C ), these actually fit in well with all the other mismatched black speakers I have in the system.
