Shark Navigator Upright Vacuum with Lift-Away, Zero-M Anti-Hair Wrap Technology, Anti-Allergen + HEPA Filter and Swivel Steering (ZU561), Red Peony

I am tempted to give this 5 stars, but since I just received it I will come back later to upgrade it if I stay this happy with it in a few months. My Hoover stick vacuum died finally. It was great while it lasted, except I hated dealing with the hair wrapped around the roller brush. I started doing research and learned about the anti-tangle feature on some uprights. I thought an upright would be too heavy; I decided to live without the anti-tangle feature and bought a Shark Rocket Pro stick vacuum, which has great reviews. I had read that the Rocket Pro wouldn't stand up on its own, but I decided I would be OK with that if it worked well. I got home, assembled it, started using it, and right away I was a little annoyed with having to lay it down every time I stopped. I decided to accept it...until I looked at the roller head and saw all the hair wrapped around it. That was enough for me to box it back up and return it. I was not going to deal with cutting out the hair like I had to do with the Hoover stick. I did more research and decided on this Shark Navigator, and I am so glad I did! PROs 1. It's not heavy at all. It's only six pounds heavier than my old Hoover stick vacuum, but it moves so easily I didn't even notice the weight difference. It swivels nicely on carpet, but does not swivel at all on hard floors which is OK. It did not drag on my carpet, but I don't have shag. I put it on the highest level of suction for my carpet, and it still moved easily. I was shocked at how much dust and dirt it picked up. 2. Assembly was quick and simple. The guide book is small and the pictures are helpful. Be sure to read the brief four pages or so that explain the different buttons and latches which makes operation pretty easy. 3. The size of the suction head is perfect. I was concerned I might have to use the wand in my small guest bathroom, but the head went everywhere except one corner. It was simple to detach the wand and get in that corner. I can see it will be easy to use the wand to vacuum baseboards. 4. The dust bin is large and super easy to detach with the flip of one latch. I am so relieved it's not attached to the power cord like some other models. 5. I flipped it upside down to look at the roller brush after vacuuming a couple of rooms, and there was only one tiny hair wrapped around the roller which came out with one quick pull. I was relieved and elated! I refuse to deal with hair wrapped around a roller brush again. Not any real cons, just a couple of things to note... 1. There are no lights in front, but it's not a big deal. Just turn on your house lights--I can live with that. 2. You do have to hold the cord up when vacuuming because it's kind of low, but I am happy to do this since it's not attached to the dust bin. I thought the cord was long, but since I have a big house I attached an extension cord. I am very happy with my purchase. I am looking forward to using it.
