My Red drives have exceeded my expectations

I have been using WD Red and Red Pro drives in my NAS for years now. This most recent purchase of a 12TB Red Pro was to replace an older 6TB Red that had a lifespan of 10 years. So, you could say I have been very satisfied with using WD Red drives in my system. It is a slow progress to move up from 2/6TB Red drives to 8/12TB Red Pros. All of my Red drives have well exceeded their warranted lifetimes. NO drive has failed in under 8 years of life and some are going on 10 years of life. My overall experience with WD drives has been very satisfactory and I will continue to use these as I upgrade and expand my system.

Upgraded my Synology NAS

The stars aligned when it came time to upgrade the storage on my Synology DS918+ and the 26TB WD Red Pro became available. Purchased 4 and proceeded to replace my existing 18TB drives. Took a long time (~2 days per drive), but now I have more space available for archiving. So far, so good. Running smooth. (So far, I seem to upgrade every 8TB step in advance of the technology. Started with 10TB drives, upgraded to 18TB, and now 26TB.) WD, keep advancing the technology!

Perfect Drive for My NAS Setup

Reliable and Fast — Perfect for My NAS Setup! I've been using the WD Red Pro NAS Hard Drive for several months now, and I'm very satisfied with its performance. It runs quietly, stays cool even under continuous use, and delivers consistently fast read/write speeds in my 24/7 NAS environment. The build quality feels solid and professional — exactly what you'd expect from a drive designed for RAID and multi-bay systems. No issues with setup, and it was immediately recognized by my Synology NAS. If you need a high-capacity, dependable drive for network storage, this is a great choice. Definitely recommend it.
