works very well. I just put loose tea in the middle and add hot water. No need to put it on the stove. Tea in 10 or so minutes. Quality product, worth the price.

Thin glass if ur clumsy, nicely multi-functional

I've been trying to get away from plastics and silicone, particularly when in contact with hot food and beverages. This includes coffee makers with plastic water reservoirs, that use k cups, or have SS metal reusable filters still with plastic 'framing'. I still use a microwave here and there, but baby steps in that phase out. Also, I want to save some money making coffee at home with good quality grounds. I also got a small French press insulated pitcher for work and 4" mini hot plate to use in combination or interchangably with this glass pitcher. I like having back up and I like the idea of the grounds brewing up in the water vs. pour over style, which I find half-annoying. Going to try a small percolator and non-aluminum moka maker when I can afford the ones I want. ANYWAY, this 18.6 oz glass pitcher is good-sized enough to make a healthy mid-to-large ceramic mug of coffee or enough to fit a tall to-go insulated reusable coffee drink container. While it's really meant to steep tea, the holes in the stainless steel tea receptacle are tiny and work well enough to hold bagged ground coffee. I keep both beans and ground in my pantry back stock that I cycle through. I fill the pitcher with exactly 18 oz. of water which hits at the bottom of the 'circle' attachment part at the top part of the handle and fill the SS tea receptacle with 3 coffee spoons which might be a tablespoon. It came with an old coffee set to measure out for one 6 oz serving. That could be a lot or not enough depending how a person likes their coffee, but something like 4 tablespoons would overflow the receptacle. It takes my small wattage microwave 5 minutes to get my filtered room temp water hit at least to 205 degrees F. I immediately take the temp with a digital Taylor SS stick thermometer. I also have a small one inch-ish round head analog stick thermometer that I use at work where there is a higher wattage commercial microwave that takes half the time to get to the temp I need. I put the coffee-filled receptacle in the heated water and get it moistened/mixed up with the thermometer stick or a thin, long SS spoon I happen to have. Whatever is clean at the moment, but it's got to be thin because, say, a regular-sized tea spoon will be unwieldy. Once all is incorporated I put the lid on and set a timer for 3 minutes. I use a mesh ss 'dome' strainer with a pre-moistened (with water) unbleached coffee filter to catch any excess ground residue while pouring the ready coffee into my final cup or container. Kind of a necessity when I use my pre-ground coffee. This might be a lot to go through, but I do get my good, strong cup coffee for way cheaper. When I use my open top med-large ceramic mug I still have a little extra coffee left in the pitcher that sits below the bottom of the SS receptacle piece. Works if I want to top things off as I go along or to reheat later in the microwave. The only con is that the glass is a little thin. Mainly because I'm clumsy one.

I love that it is easy to clean, however, i like a pot that has a lid. Yes, this one has a lid, but only if the infuser is still in the pot. If I leave the infuser in the pot, even I can't drink it.
