Great Value Block Sharp Cheddar Cheese, 16 oz

Great cheddar cheese. Definitely no need to waste money on name brand cheese, this is just as good. We buy a block weekly. We mostly shred it for tacos, quesadillas, chili, salads and such, but also great alone or with crackers.

I didn't think much of the block of cheddar when I found it in the refrigerator this morning. It just sat there, wrapped in plastic, glowing an unsettling shade of orange beneath the fridge light. I cut off a slice for my sandwich, but now I'm beginning to wonder if that was the moment everything changed. It melted too perfectly, stretched too gracefully, and somehow every other ingredient seemed to disappear beneath it. I could still taste the tomato, technically... but only because the cheddar allowed it. I've spent the rest of the day noticing it everywhere. On burgers. In macaroni. Sprinkled over nachos. Folded into omelets. It's as though cheddar has quietly worked its way into every corner of the kitchen without anyone questioning how it became the default. Other cheeses still exist, but they feel like background characters in a story that's already been decided. Brie is too fancy. Swiss is too full of holes. Mozzarella only gets called in for pizza. Cheddar is always there, waiting. I don't know if I'm imagining things, but I caught myself buying another block on the way home today. I don't even remember putting it in the cart. It's in the refrigerator now, exactly where the last one was. It looks ordinary enough, but every time I open the door, I swear it seems just a little more confident. I think I'll make grilled cheese tomorrow. It feels less like a choice and more like an appointment.
