Stove Top Directions: 1. Combine 1 cup water, ¼ teaspoon salt and 1½ tablespoons butter*. For best results, do not add milk until Step 3. 2. Heat to a boil, remove from heat. 3. Add ½ cup cold milk; stir in potatoes gently and let stand until moist. Whip lightly with fork and serve.*Margarine may be substituted for butter. Microwave Directions: All microwaves vary and heating times may have to be adjusted. 1. Combine 1 cup cold water, ¼ teaspoon salt and 1½ tablespoon butter* in microwave-safe serving bowl. 2. Heat to a boil in microwave on high setting, approximately 2 minutes. 3. Remove From microwave. Caution: Serving bowl and liquid will be hot.4. Add ½ Cup cold milk; stir in potatoes gently and let stand until moist. Whip lightly with fork and serve.*Margarine may be substituted for butter.

Wow!! Why would anyone hassle with the ordeal of making mash potatoes from scratch. These baby's take just a few minutes and taste just as good...really they do! No artificial taste at all..I prefer the Original ...if you start messing with the flavoured varieties that's where you could run in to some fake taste....But I have only tried the original..they are made with real potatoes and taste just like it...YUM!!!!

If you are inept in the kitchen or just don't have the time or the potatoes, these Idahoan instant potatoes are perfect. Less than 5 minutes to cook, and they are very good. My youngest likes them better than real potatoes. Extra butter is not even needed, though I do throw a tablespoon in out of habit.
