Choosing the right size tarp depends on what you need to cover. Start by measuring the length and width of the area or item you want to protect. It's a good idea to add a few extra inches on each side for secure coverage and to allow for tie-downs. If you're using the tarp for camping, outdoor furniture, or as a canopy, consider how much overhang you'll need. For vehicles or equipment, make sure the tarp fully drapes over all sides. Walmart offers a variety of sizes, so you can find one that fits your project perfectly.

Many tarps on this page are designed to be windproof or wind-resistant, thanks to features like reinforced edges, heavy-duty materials, and sturdy grommets for secure tie-downs. While no tarp can guarantee complete protection in extreme weather, using proper anchoring methods—like bungee cords or rope through the grommets—can help keep the tarp in place during windy conditions. Always check the product details for specific wind resistance features and follow setup instructions for best results.

Absolutely! Many of the tarps listed are great for camping. They can be used as ground covers, rain flies, or makeshift shelters. Look for waterproof and windproof options to help protect your gear and campsite from the elements. Tarps with reinforced corners and multiple grommets offer flexible setup options. Just make sure to choose a size that fits your tent or intended use, and always secure the tarp properly to avoid it blowing away in strong winds.

To clean your tarp, shake off loose dirt and rinse with water. For tougher spots, use a mild soap and a soft brush, then rinse thoroughly. Let the tarp dry completely before folding to prevent mold or mildew. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to help preserve the material. Folding it neatly and avoiding sharp creases can also extend its life. Keeping your tarp clean and dry between uses helps maintain its durability and performance.

Grommets are small metal or reinforced holes along the edges of a tarp. They let you easily tie down or secure the tarp using rope, bungee cords, or hooks. This helps keep the tarp in place, especially in windy conditions or when covering large items. Grommets spaced closely together provide more tie-down points, which can make setup more flexible and secure. When choosing a tarp, check for sturdy grommets to ensure reliable anchoring for your specific needs.
