Choosing the right blade for window scraping depends on the surface and what you're removing. Metal razor blades are great for tough jobs like paint or adhesive, but they should be used carefully to avoid scratching glass. Plastic blades are gentler and ideal for delicate surfaces or for removing stickers and decals without leaving marks. Many scrapers offer both options, so you can swap blades based on your needs. Always make sure the blade is clean and free of nicks to help prevent accidental scratches.

Yes, there are several types of window scrapers designed for different tasks:

• Retractable scrapers let you safely store the blade when not in use.
• Double-edged scrapers offer two working sides for extended use.
• Plastic blade scrapers are gentle for sensitive surfaces.
• Heavy-duty scrapers feature sturdy handles for tough jobs.

Some kits also include multiple blade types and sizes, so you can tackle everything from removing decals to cleaning paint splatters on glass.

While window scrapers are designed for glass, scratches can happen if the blade is damaged, dirty, or used incorrectly. To help avoid scratches:

• Use a clean, sharp blade.
• Hold the scraper at a low angle.
• Apply gentle, even pressure.
• Consider using a plastic blade for delicate surfaces.

It's a good idea to test the scraper on a small, hidden area first. Keeping the glass wet while scraping can also reduce the risk of marks.

To clean outside windows with a scraper, start by rinsing off loose dirt. Apply a window-safe cleaning solution and let it soak for a few minutes. Gently use the scraper at a low angle to remove stuck-on debris like paint or stickers. Wipe the blade often to keep it clean. Finish by rinsing the window and drying it with a lint-free cloth or squeegee. Always follow the scraper's safety instructions and avoid using excessive force.

You can find replacement blades for most window scrapers right here at Walmart, both online and in-store. Many scraper sets include extra blades, but if you need more, look for universal blade packs or check the packaging for compatible sizes. Having spare blades on hand helps keep your scraper working efficiently and safely for all your cleaning projects.
