Walker slides, also known as glides or ski glides, are designed to fit onto the rear legs of a walker. Their smooth surface helps the walker move more easily across different types of flooring, including carpet and tile. This can reduce the need to lift the walker with every step, making it easier to use and potentially less tiring. For many people, this means a more comfortable and steady walking experience, especially indoors. Always check that the slides are securely attached and compatible with your walker for best results.

Many walker slides are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, but it's important to check the product details to be sure. Slides made from durable materials can handle surfaces like sidewalks or pavement, but rough terrain may cause more wear. For outdoor use, regularly inspect the slides for signs of damage or excessive wear, and replace them as needed. Keeping the slides clean can also help them last longer and maintain smooth movement.

• First, make sure your walker is on a stable surface.
• Remove any existing tips from the rear legs if needed.
• Align the walker slides with the leg openings and press them on firmly.
• Some slides may require a gentle twist or a tap to secure them in place.
• Check that both slides are even and secure before using the walker.

If you have any doubts, refer to the instructions included with your slides or ask a store associate for help.

The frequency of replacement depends on how often and where you use your walker. If you notice the slides are worn down, cracked, or not gliding smoothly, it's a good idea to replace them. Regularly checking the condition of your walker slides can help maintain safe and easy movement. Many customers find it helpful to keep an extra set on hand, especially if they use their walker daily or on rough surfaces.

Most walker slides are designed to fit standard walker leg sizes, but it's important to check the size and compatibility before purchasing. Some slides are universal, while others are made for specific tube diameters. Measuring your walker’s leg diameter and reading the product details can help you find the right fit. If you’re unsure, a store associate can assist you in finding slides that match your walker model.
