Walker glides and tennis balls both help walkers move smoothly, but there are some differences to consider.

• Walker glides are designed specifically for walker feet, often made from durable plastic or felt, and usually fit snugly without much effort.
• Tennis balls are a popular DIY option, offering a softer glide and some floor protection, but may require more maintenance and can be harder to install unless they're precut.

Choosing between them depends on your needs, like ease of installation, floor type, and how much noise reduction you want.

If you'd prefer not to use tennis balls on your walker, there are several alternatives available.

• Walker ski glides are a popular option, made to fit most standard walkers and provide smooth movement across floors.
• Rubber or felt caps can also be used for added grip and floor protection.
• Some people use specially designed glider pads or coasters that slip onto walker legs.

These alternatives can help reduce friction, protect floors, and offer a quieter experience.

Yes, there are tennis balls made specifically for walkers. These are often precut with an opening, so they're easy to install without tools.

• They're designed to fit most walker legs and provide smooth gliding.
• Some come with extra felt or padding for durability and floor protection.
• You'll find them in different colors and packs, making it easy to match your style or needs.

Look for walker-specific tennis balls to save time and effort during installation.

If you're using regular tennis balls, you'll need to cut an opening so they fit onto walker legs.

1. Place the tennis ball on a stable surface.
2. Use a sharp utility knife or scissors to carefully cut an 'X' or a slit about 1-2 inches wide.
3. Wear gloves and take safety precautions to avoid injury.
4. Push the walker leg into the opening until the ball fits snugly.

For easier installation, consider buying precut tennis balls designed for walkers.

Keeping walker balls clean helps them last longer and keeps your floors in good shape.

• Remove the balls from the walker legs.
• Wipe them with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris.
• If they're very dirty, use mild soap and water, then let them air dry completely before reinstalling.
• Check for wear or damage regularly and replace as needed.

Regular cleaning can help maintain smooth movement and floor protection.
