Adding a side splash to your bathroom vanity can help protect your walls from water, soap, and other splashes that happen during everyday use. Side splashes are especially helpful if your vanity is installed against a side wall, as they create a barrier that keeps moisture from seeping into drywall or paint. This can help reduce the risk of water damage, mold, or staining over time. Plus, a side splash can give your vanity a more finished look, making your bathroom feel complete and easy to maintain.

1. Measure and dry fit: Place the side splash on the vanity to check the fit and mark its position.
2. Clean surfaces: Wipe down the wall and vanity top where the side splash will go to remove dust and debris.
3. Apply adhesive: Use a silicone-based adhesive or caulk on the back of the side splash.
4. Press in place: Carefully press the side splash against the wall and vanity top, aligning it with your marks.
5. Seal edges: Run a bead of caulk along the seams for a watertight finish.

Let the adhesive cure as directed before using the sink area. Always follow product instructions for best results.

A backsplash is installed along the back edge of your vanity, protecting the wall behind your sink from water and stains. A side splash is a smaller piece that attaches to the side of the vanity, usually where it meets a wall. Both serve to keep water off your walls, but a side splash is specifically for the side area, while a backsplash covers the back. Some vanities use both for full wall protection, especially in tight bathroom layouts.

If you notice a gap between your vanity and the wall, you have a few options:

• Install a side splash: This is a common and effective way to cover the gap and protect your wall from moisture.
• Use caulk: For smaller gaps, a bead of color-matched caulk can seal the space and prevent water from getting behind the vanity.
• Add trim: For larger gaps, consider using a trim piece or molding for a finished look.

Choose the solution that best fits your bathroom’s design and needs.

Yes, many side splashes can be trimmed to fit your vanity’s size, especially if your space has unique dimensions. Use a wet saw with a diamond blade for stone or engineered marble materials, and always wear proper safety gear. After cutting, smooth any rough edges with fine sandpaper. If you’re not comfortable with DIY tools, consider asking a professional for help to ensure a clean, safe cut that matches your vanity perfectly.
