Setting up a USB modem is usually straightforward.

1. Plug the modem into a USB port on your computer or compatible device.
2. Wait for the device to recognize the modem—some models install drivers automatically, while others may require you to download software from the manufacturer’s website.
3. If your modem uses a SIM card, insert it as directed.
4. Follow on-screen prompts to connect to the internet.

If you run into issues, check the user manual or visit the support section on Walmart.com for troubleshooting tips.

USB modems are a great option for travel because they’re compact and easy to use.

• Many models are portable and can connect multiple devices, making them ideal for road trips, hotels, or remote work.
• Look for modems that support 4G LTE or WiFi hotspot features for broader coverage.
• Always check if the modem is unlocked or compatible with local SIM cards if you’re traveling internationally.

Portable USB modems can help you stay connected wherever you go, as long as you have network coverage.

Most USB modems are designed to work with computers, laptops, and some tablets.

• Some models also function as WiFi hotspots, allowing smartphones, smart TVs, and other WiFi-enabled devices to connect.
• Check the product description to see how many devices can connect simultaneously—some support up to 10 users.

Compatibility depends on your device’s operating system and the modem’s features, so review the specifications before purchasing.

Many USB modems require a SIM card to access mobile data networks, especially those offering 4G LTE or WiFi hotspot capabilities.

• Some models come with a pre-installed SIM, while others let you use your own.
• Traditional dial-up USB modems don’t need a SIM card—they connect via phone lines.

Always check the product details to see if a SIM card is needed and whether it’s included.

If you’re experiencing weak signal with your USB modem, try these tips:

• Move the modem to a different location, preferably near a window or away from obstructions.
• Use a USB extension cable to reposition the modem for better reception.
• Some modems have external antennas—adjust or upgrade them if possible.

Signal strength can vary based on your environment and network coverage, so experimenting with placement can help boost connectivity.
