When choosing a dash cam for rideshare driving, consider these features:

• Dual or triple cameras: Capture both the road and the vehicle's interior for added security.
• Night vision: Ensures clear footage in low-light conditions, which is important for evening or night shifts.
• Loop recording: Automatically overwrites old footage, so you never run out of space.
• Parking mode: Monitors your car even when parked, offering extra peace of mind.
• WiFi or app control: Makes it easier to review and share footage when needed.

These features can help you document rides and protect both you and your passengers.

Installing a dash cam is usually straightforward. Here’s a general approach:

1. Mount the camera: Attach it to your windshield, typically behind the rearview mirror for a clear view.
2. Connect the power: Plug the dash cam into your car’s USB port or use the included adapter for the 12V outlet.
3. Route the cable: Tuck the power cable along the edge of the windshield and down to the power source to keep things tidy.
4. Set up the camera: Adjust the angle and follow the on-screen prompts for initial setup.

Always refer to the included instructions for model-specific guidance.

Many dash cams offer a parking mode feature that allows them to record even when your car is off. This mode typically uses motion detection or impact sensors to start recording if something happens near your vehicle. For continuous monitoring, some models may require a hardwire kit or external battery pack. It’s a good idea to check your dash cam’s manual to see what’s needed for parking mode and to ensure proper installation for safe operation.

Accessing dash cam footage on your phone is simple if your device supports WiFi or app connectivity. Here’s how it usually works:

• Enable WiFi on the dash cam: Follow the instructions to turn on the camera’s WiFi feature.
• Download the app: Install the manufacturer’s app on your smartphone.
• Connect your phone: Use the app to connect to the dash cam’s WiFi network.
• View or download footage: Browse, play, or save videos directly to your phone for easy sharing or backup.

Always refer to your dash cam’s manual for specific steps.

Keeping your dash cam in good shape helps ensure reliable performance. Here are some tips:

• Clean the lens regularly: Use a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or smudges for clear recordings.
• Check memory card health: Format the card periodically and replace it if you notice errors or recording issues.
• Update firmware: If your dash cam supports updates, install them to access new features and improvements.
• Inspect cables and mounts: Make sure everything is secure and free from damage.

Routine care can help your dash cam work smoothly for the long haul.
