Sublimation sheets are designed for transferring vibrant designs onto items like t-shirts, mugs, and tumblers. To use them, follow these steps:

1. Print your design onto the sublimation sheet using a compatible inkjet printer with sublimation ink.
2. Place the printed sheet onto your blank item, such as a mug or fabric.
3. Secure it with heat-resistant tape if needed.
4. Use a heat press or iron (following manufacturer instructions) to transfer the design. The heat causes the ink to turn into gas and bond with the item.
5. Remove the sheet once cooled. The result is a vivid, permanent design.

Always check your sheet and item compatibility before starting.

Viscose is a semi-synthetic fiber, and while it can sometimes accept sublimation transfers, results may vary. Sublimation works best on polyester or polyester-coated surfaces because the ink bonds with the polymer. With viscose, the colors may not be as vibrant or durable. For best results, look for fabrics with a high polyester content or blends specifically labeled for sublimation. Always test a small area first to see how the transfer appears and holds up over time.

Not all mugs are suitable for sublimation. For successful transfers, mugs need a special polyester coating that allows the sublimation ink to bond. Many inexpensive mugs, including those from discount stores, may lack this coating, resulting in faded or incomplete designs. If you're unsure, check the product description or packaging for 'sublimation-ready' or 'poly-coated.' Using mugs specifically designed for sublimation can help achieve vibrant, lasting results.

Both Direct-to-Film (DTF) and sublimation printing offer durable results, but their longevity can depend on the material and how the item is used. Sublimation bonds ink directly with polyester surfaces, creating vibrant, permanent designs that resist fading. DTF prints sit on top of the fabric, allowing use on more materials, including cotton, but may be more prone to wear over time. For high-use items, sublimation on polyester often provides longer-lasting color, while DTF offers versatility for different fabrics.

When shopping for sublimation sheets, consider these factors:

• Printer compatibility: Make sure the sheets work with your inkjet printer and sublimation ink.
• Sheet size: Choose sizes that fit your projects, like mugs or t-shirts.
• Weight (gsm): Heavier sheets often produce sharper transfers.
• Drying speed: Quick-drying sheets can help prevent smudges.
• Intended use: Some sheets are designed for specific blanks, so check if they're suitable for your project.
