Choosing the right size food container depends on what you plan to store. Here are a few tips:

• For sandwiches or subs: Look for containers designed to fit standard bread or sub sizes to keep them fresh and intact.
• For meal prep or leftovers: Consider larger containers, like 32 oz or 64 oz, for soups, salads, or bulk storage.
• For snacks or small portions: Smaller containers, such as 8 oz, are great for fruit, dips, or nuts.

Think about your typical portion sizes and storage space to find the best fit for your needs.

Many food storage containers are labeled as microwave safe, but it's important to check the product details or packaging for confirmation. Containers made from certain plastics or silicone are often designed to handle microwave use. Always remove lids or vent them to prevent pressure build-up, and avoid microwaving containers that aren't specifically marked as microwave safe. Following these guidelines can help you heat food safely and extend the life of your containers.

To keep reusable containers in great shape, wash them with warm, soapy water after each use. Most are dishwasher safe—just place them on the top rack to avoid warping. For stubborn stains or odors, try soaking the container in a mix of baking soda and water before washing. Make sure containers are completely dry before storing to prevent moisture buildup. Regular cleaning helps maintain freshness and extends the life of your containers.

Many food storage containers are designed to be freezer safe, making them handy for meal prep or storing leftovers. Before freezing, check the product details to confirm they're suitable for low temperatures. Leave a little space at the top of the container for food expansion, and use airtight lids to help prevent freezer burn. Labeling containers with the date can also help you keep track of what's inside and when it was stored.

To help keep your sandwich fresh and avoid sogginess, use a container that fits snugly around the bread and fillings. Some containers are designed specifically for sandwiches and subs, offering a secure seal. You can also pack wet ingredients, like tomatoes or condiments, separately and add them just before eating. Keeping your sandwich elevated from moisture and using a well-sealed container can make a big difference in freshness.
