Most step stone kits include everything you need to create a personalized garden stone. You’ll usually find:

• A mold for shaping the stone
• Mixing materials like plaster or cement
• Decorative items such as paints, beads, or glitter
• Instructions for mixing and decorating

Some kits may also include tools for handprints or special designs. Always check the product details to see exactly what’s included, as contents can vary by kit.

Using a step stone kit with kids can be a fun and creative activity. Here’s a simple approach:

1. Cover your workspace to protect surfaces.
2. Help kids mix the stone material according to the instructions.
3. Pour the mixture into the mold and smooth it out.
4. Let kids decorate with paints, beads, or handprints while the stone is still soft.
5. Allow the stone to dry completely before moving it.

Adult supervision is recommended, especially when handling mixing materials.

Many stepping stones made from kits are designed for outdoor use, but durability can depend on the materials and how well the stone is sealed. For best results:

• Let the stone cure fully before placing it outside.
• Consider applying a weather-resistant sealant to help protect against rain and sun.
• Place the stone in a spot that doesn’t collect standing water.

Always check the kit’s instructions for any specific outdoor use recommendations.

To keep your painted stepping stones looking their best:

• Gently wipe off dirt with a damp cloth or soft brush.
• Avoid using harsh chemicals or pressure washers, as these can damage the paint.
• If needed, touch up faded areas with outdoor-safe paint.

Applying a clear sealant can also help protect the design from weather and wear over time.

Step stone kits can be a great choice for group activities, like birthday parties or family gatherings. Many kits include multiple molds or enough materials for several people to participate. Here are some tips:

• Set up a large, covered workspace for everyone.
• Have extra decorating supplies on hand for added creativity.
• Allow plenty of drying time before guests take their stones home.

It’s a fun way for everyone to create a unique keepsake together.
