Spring clips are handy tools designed to hold objects together using tension. They're commonly used in crafts, woodworking, photography studios, and even for securing backdrops or garden projects. The spring mechanism lets you quickly clamp and release items without needing extra tools.

• Easy to operate with one hand
• Ideal for temporary holds
• Useful for organizing, hanging, or securing materials

Yes, there are several types of spring clips, each designed for specific tasks.

• Plastic spring clamps: Lightweight and great for crafts or photography backdrops.
• Metal spring clamps: Durable, often used in woodworking or garage storage.
• Carabiner-style spring links: Useful for attaching gear or organizing keys.
• Alligator clips: Small clamps for crafting or electrical testing.

The proper name for a spring clamp is simply "spring clamp" or "spring clip." Sometimes, you might see them called "muslin clamps" in photography, "chip clips" in crafts, or "snap hooks" when referring to carabiner-style links. The name often depends on the intended use, but "spring clamp" is the most universal term for the tool that uses a spring mechanism to hold items securely.

Picking the right size spring clip depends on what you need to clamp.

• For lightweight projects like crafts or small backdrops, smaller clips (2-3 inches) work well.
• For heavier tasks, such as woodworking or garage storage, larger and sturdier clips (4 inches or more) offer stronger grip.
• Consider the jaw opening and material—plastic for lighter jobs, metal for heavy-duty tasks.

Many spring clips are suitable for outdoor use, especially those made from stainless steel or galvanized metal.

• Metal clips resist rust and corrosion, making them ideal for gardening, camping, or hanging items outside.
• Plastic clips may be used outdoors but can degrade over time with exposure to sunlight and weather.
