There are several types of slips designed for wearing under dresses, each offering unique benefits.

• Full slips cover from shoulder to hem, providing smooth coverage.
• Half slips start at the waist and end at the knee or mid-calf, perfect for skirts or shorter dresses.
• Pettipants are culotte-style slips, offering comfort and preventing chafing.
• Shapewear slips add tummy control and a seamless look.
• Split slips feature side slits for easy movement.

A split slip is designed with side slits or openings, making it easier to move and walk comfortably, especially with dresses or skirts that have similar slits. Regular slips, on the other hand, are typically straight and don’t have slits.

• Split slips are ideal for outfits with side or back slits.
• Regular slips offer a smooth, uninterrupted layer under most dresses and skirts.

A slip that covers from the waist down is commonly known as a half slip. Half slips are perfect for wearing under skirts or dresses, providing coverage and helping fabrics drape smoothly. They come in various lengths, from mini to full, and some feature side slits or lace trim for added comfort and style. If you prefer shorts-style coverage, pettipants are another option, offering a culotte fit.

Slips serve several practical purposes when worn under skirts and dresses:

• Preventing transparency by adding an extra layer.
• Helping fabrics glide smoothly, reducing static cling.
• Enhancing comfort by preventing chafing.
• Improving fit for a polished look.

Picking the right slip depends on your dress style and personal needs.

• For fitted dresses, seamless or shapewear slips offer a smooth look.
• For flowy skirts, half slips or pettipants provide comfort and coverage.
• If your dress has a slit, consider a split slip for easy movement.
• Choose materials like cotton for breathability or nylon for a sleek finish.
