Those hooks are commonly known as snap hooks, but you might also hear them called carabiner clips, lobster clasps, or swivel hooks depending on their design. Each style offers a quick way to attach or detach keys, badges, or accessories. When shopping, you'll find a variety of shapes and mechanisms—some with spring gates, others with trigger releases—so you can pick what works best for your needs, whether that's for organizing keys, making DIY crafts, or attaching gear to bags.

While snap hooks and carabiners look similar, they aren't always the same.

• Snap hooks are a broad category that includes various quick-release hooks, often used for keychains, bags, or crafts.
• Carabiners are a type of snap hook, usually D-shaped, with a spring-loaded gate. They're popular for outdoor use but not all are rated for climbing or heavy loads.

Choosing the right snap hook keychain depends on how you plan to use it. Consider these tips:

• Size & Weight: Smaller hooks are great for keys, while larger ones can handle bags or outdoor gear.
• Material: Metal hooks offer durability, while aluminum is lightweight. Some come in colorful finishes for style.
• Closure Type: Spring gates, trigger snaps, and lobster clasps all offer different levels of security and ease of use.

The lifespan of a snap hook keychain can vary based on material, frequency of use, and environment.

• Metal hooks may last longer, especially if they're made from stainless steel or zinc alloy.
• Exposure to moisture or heavy loads can cause wear over time.
• For everyday use, many snap hooks can be used repeatedly for months or even years.

Absolutely! Snap hooks are popular for a wide range of DIY projects.

• They're great for making custom keychains, bag charms, or jewelry like bracelets and necklaces.
• Choose smaller, decorative hooks for crafts, or larger, sturdy ones for functional items.
• Many snap hooks come in multipacks, making them ideal for group projects or gifts.
