Choosing the right shotshell load depends on your intended use and your shotgun's gauge.

• Gauge: Make sure the shell matches your shotgun's gauge (like 12, 16, 20, or 28 gauge).
• Shot size: Smaller numbers mean larger pellets, which are often used for bigger game, while higher numbers are for smaller targets.
• Shell length: Check your shotgun's chamber to ensure compatibility with the shell length (like 2-3/4 in or 1-3/4 in).
• Purpose: Consider if you're hunting, target shooting, or using for another activity, as different loads are designed for different uses.

Always follow your firearm's manual for safe and proper use.

Shot size refers to the diameter of the pellets inside a shotshell.

• Smaller shot numbers (like 4 or 6) mean larger pellets, which are typically used for larger game or longer distances.
• Larger shot numbers (like 7.5 or 8) mean smaller pellets, often chosen for smaller game or clay targets.

Understanding shot size helps you match your shotshell to your activity, whether it's hunting or target shooting. Always check your local regulations and your firearm's compatibility before use.

It's important to only use shotshells that match your shotgun's gauge.

• Using the wrong gauge can be unsafe and may damage your firearm.
• Always check the markings on your shotgun and the box of shells to ensure they match (for example, only use 12 gauge shells in a 12 gauge shotgun).

If you're unsure, consult your firearm's manual or a knowledgeable professional before loading any shells.

Proper storage helps maintain shotshell quality and safety.

• Keep shotshells in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Store them in their original packaging or a secure container to prevent accidental damage.
• Keep out of reach of children and unauthorized users.

Following these tips can help preserve your shotshells and promote safe handling at home or in the field.

The numbers on a shotshell box provide key details about the shells inside.

• Gauge: Indicates the size of the shell (like 12 ga or 20 ga).
• Shell length: Shows how long the shell is (such as 2-3/4 in or 1-3/4 in).
• Shot size: Tells you the size of the pellets (like 6 shot or 8 shot).
• Weight and velocity: Lists the amount of shot (in ounces) and the speed (in feet per second).

Understanding these numbers helps you select the right shotshells for your needs and ensures compatibility with your firearm.
