Some curtain styles can make a space feel less current. Heavily ruffled valances, bold swag drapes, and ornate tassel tiebacks are often seen as outdated. Instead, many people are choosing simpler looks like solid panels, subtle patterns, or light-filtering fabrics. If you want a modern vibe, try

• clean lines
• neutral or earthy tones
• minimal hardware

Rust stains on curtains can be tricky, but there are a few methods you can try.

• First, check the care label for cleaning instructions.
• For washable fabrics, gently dab the stain with a mixture of lemon juice and salt, then let it sit for about 30 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
• If the stain persists, a commercial rust remover made for fabrics may help—just test it on a small area first.

Choosing a curtain color depends on your room’s style and your goals.

• For a cozy feel, earthy tones like rust, brick, or warm neutrals can add comfort and charm.
• If you want your curtains to blend in, match them to your wall color or a shade lighter or darker.
• For a pop of color, pick a shade that complements your decor or adds contrast.

While trends can shift, some emerging styles for 2026 include earthy colors like rust and terracotta, textured fabrics, and sustainable materials. Minimalist designs with clean lines are expected to stay popular, as well as layering sheer and blackout panels for flexibility. People are also leaning toward

• natural fibers
• subtle geometric patterns
• hardware in matte finishes

Many rust-colored curtains are available in blackout or room-darkening styles. These curtains often feature thermal or foam backing that helps reduce sunlight and improve privacy. If you’re looking to darken a room, check the product details for terms like "blackout," "room darkening," or "light filtering." Keep in mind, the level of light blocking can vary depending on the fabric and lining, so review the specifications to find the best fit for your needs.
