Measuring for replacement blinds is pretty simple, but accuracy matters. Here’s a quick guide:

• Width: Measure the inside width of your window frame at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the narrowest measurement.
• Height: Measure the inside height from the top of the frame to the windowsill on both sides and in the center. Use the longest measurement.
• Double-check: Always measure to the nearest 1/8 inch and write down your numbers. If you’re replacing vertical blinds for a door, measure the full opening height and width.

Having the right measurements helps you find blinds that fit well and look great.

Vertical and horizontal blinds each have their own strengths, depending on your space:

• Vertical blinds: These are great for large windows, sliding glass doors, or patio doors. The slats run up and down and can be easily adjusted to control light and privacy.
• Horizontal blinds: These work well for standard windows. The slats run side to side and are ideal for smaller openings.

Choosing the right style depends on your window size, location, and how you want to manage light in your room.

Cleaning vinyl blind slats is straightforward and helps keep them looking fresh. Here’s how:

• Dust regularly: Use a microfiber cloth, duster, or vacuum with a brush attachment to remove loose dust.
• Spot clean: For sticky spots, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
• Deep clean: For a thorough clean, remove the slats and soak them in a bathtub with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry completely before rehanging.

Regular cleaning can help your blinds last longer and keep your space looking tidy.

Yes, you can find replacement slats and repair parts for many types of blinds. Walmart offers options like individual slats, multi-packs, and repair tabs for both vertical and horizontal blinds. When shopping, check the size, color, and material to match your existing blinds. If you’re unsure, bring a sample slat or take a photo to compare. Having access to replacement parts means you don’t have to replace the whole blind if just one slat is damaged.
