The 3-3-3 rule is a helpful guideline for understanding how rabbits may adjust to a new environment. While not a strict rule, it suggests that:

• First 3 days: Your bunny might be shy, hide, or seem unsure as they get used to new sights and smells.
• First 3 weeks: They may start to explore, show curiosity, and settle into a routine.
• First 3 months: Most rabbits begin to feel comfortable, show their personality, and bond with their family.

Patience and gentle care can help your rabbit feel safe and secure during this transition period.

Making a simple rabbit drinker at home can be done with common items, but it's important to prioritize safety and cleanliness. Here’s one approach:

1. Use a clean plastic bottle with a secure lid.
2. Poke a small hole near the bottom and insert a metal sipper tube (available at pet stores).
3. Secure the bottle to your rabbit’s cage with wire or zip ties, making sure it’s at a comfortable height.
4. Check for leaks and clean the bottle regularly to prevent bacteria buildup.

Homemade drinkers can work temporarily, but purpose-built bottles are designed for durability and ease of use.

Choosing the right water bottle size for your rabbit depends on their size, how many pets share the bottle, and how often you want to refill it. Here are some tips:

• Small rabbits or single pets usually do well with 8-16 oz bottles.
• Larger rabbits or multiple pets may need 32 oz or more to ensure enough water is available.
• If you’re away during the day, a larger bottle can help prevent running out of water.

Always check the bottle daily and refill as needed to keep your rabbit hydrated.

Keeping your rabbit’s water bottle clean helps prevent bacteria and keeps water fresh. Here’s a simple cleaning routine:

1. Empty the bottle and remove it from the cage.
2. Use warm, soapy water and a bottle brush to scrub the inside thoroughly.
3. Rinse well to remove any soap residue.
4. Pay extra attention to the nozzle, as it can trap debris—use a small brush or pipe cleaner if needed.
5. Let the bottle air dry completely before refilling and reattaching it to the cage.

Cleaning at least once a week is a good habit for your rabbit’s health.

If your rabbit isn’t using their water bottle, a few things could be happening:

• The nozzle might be blocked or stuck, so check for clogs and make sure water flows easily.
• Some rabbits prefer bowls over bottles—try offering both to see which your pet likes.
• Placement matters; make sure the bottle is at a comfortable height and easy to reach.
• Introduce the bottle by gently touching your rabbit’s nose to the nozzle so they know it’s there.

If your rabbit still isn’t drinking, consult a veterinarian to rule out health concerns.
