A propagator and a greenhouse both help plants grow, but they serve different purposes:

• Propagators are smaller, enclosed containers designed for starting seeds or rooting cuttings. They often have humidity domes or adjustable vents to control moisture and temperature for young plants.
• Greenhouses are larger structures that can house mature plants, seedlings, and even trees. They provide a controlled environment for growing a wide variety of plants year-round.

If you’re just starting seeds or cuttings indoors, a propagator is a handy, space-saving option. For larger-scale or long-term growing, a greenhouse might be better suited.

Using a seed starter tray propagator is simple and can boost your seed germination success:

1. Fill each cell with seed starting mix, leaving a little space at the top.
2. Plant your seeds according to the packet instructions, then lightly cover them with soil.
3. Water gently so the soil is moist but not soggy.
4. Place the humidity dome on top to retain moisture and warmth.
5. Set the tray in a warm, bright spot, but out of direct sunlight.
6. Open vents or remove the dome once seeds sprout to prevent mold.

Keep an eye on moisture levels and adjust as needed for healthy seedlings.

Absolutely! Many propagators are great for rooting plant cuttings as well as starting seeds. Here’s how:

• Fill the propagator with moist potting mix or water, depending on your plant’s needs.
• Insert healthy cuttings, making sure the nodes are covered.
• Cover with the humidity dome to keep moisture high, which helps cuttings root.
• Place in a warm, bright spot with indirect light.

Check regularly for root growth and adjust humidity as needed. Propagators help create the ideal environment for successful cuttings.

Keeping your plant propagator clean helps prevent mold and disease. Here’s a simple routine:

1. Remove all soil, plant debris, and leftover roots from trays and domes.
2. Wash each part with warm, soapy water. Use a soft brush for corners.
3. Rinse thoroughly to remove soap residue.
4. Let everything air dry completely before storing or reusing.

For stubborn stains, a diluted vinegar solution can help. Always avoid harsh chemicals that might harm future seedlings or cuttings.

Choosing the right propagator depends on your gardening needs. Consider these features:

• Size: Pick a size that fits your available space and the number of seeds or cuttings you want to start.
• Humidity Control: Look for adjustable vents or domes to manage moisture levels.
• Material: Durable plastic or glass is easy to clean and reuse.
• Drainage: Trays with drainage holes help prevent overwatering.
• Versatility: Some propagators are designed for both seeds and cuttings, offering more flexibility.

Think about how you’ll use it and choose features that make your gardening experience easier and more successful.
