Elevating your feet on a toilet stool can encourage a more natural sitting angle by raising your knees above your hips. Many people find this feels more comfortable and may reduce straining.

• Promotes a more open hip angle and relaxed posture.
• Positions feet for stability with non-slip surfaces.
• Available in fixed or adjustable heights (commonly 7–9 in).

Start with a comfortable height, keep the stool on a dry, flat surface, and give yourself a few days to adjust. If you have questions about your specific needs, consider checking with a healthcare professional. Results can vary from person to person.

You'll see a few names used for this category. Here's how they're commonly used on product pages:

• Toilet stool / bathroom footrest: A foot platform that sits around the toilet to elevate your feet.
• Squatting stool: Another term for a toilet footrest designed to encourage a squatting-inspired posture.
• Step stool / potty training stool: A small platform that helps children reach the toilet or sink.

If you want a posture aid for the toilet, look for words like “toilet,” “bathroom footrest,” or “squatting.” For kids’ training or sink access, look for “step stool” and “two-tier.” Always check the photos and dimensions to confirm the intended use.

Bathroom footrests remain a popular, simple add-on that many shoppers consider for comfort and posture, and current designs focus on convenience.

• Space-savvy: Foldable or tuck-under shapes help with storage in small bathrooms.
• Adjustable heights: Common ranges are 7–9 inches to fit different users and toilet seats.
• Stable build: Non-slip feet and textured tops support secure footing.
• Material options: Lightweight plastic and wood-style finishes to match your decor.

When browsing, check dimensions, weight limits, and whether the shape fits around your toilet base. Reading customer reviews can provide helpful context. Many items on Walmart.com also offer pickup or delivery options for convenience.

Height choice varies by toilet and comfort, but these tips can help:

1. Measure your seat height: Standard seats are often about 15–17 inches from the floor.
2. Aim for knees slightly above hips: Many users find 7–9 inch footrests helpful; taller users may prefer the higher end.
3. Test the fit: Your feet should rest flat with a relaxed ankle angle and no wobble.
4. Consider adjustability: Multi-height designs add flexibility for households with multiple users.
5. Check clearance: Ensure the stool’s U-shape or footprint fits around your toilet base and stores easily.

Comfort is personal, so trying an adjustable model and fine-tuning the height over a few days can be useful.

They’re related but used differently:

• Potty/toilet stool (footrest): Sits at the base of the toilet to elevate your feet for posture.
• Step stool: A standalone platform (often one or two tiers) that helps with reach—commonly used by kids at the sink or toilet.

Some products blend both roles, but the shape is a clue: U-shaped or wrap-around designs typically indicate a toilet footrest, while flat, tiered tops indicate a general step stool. Check weight limits, non-slip features, and intended use in the description, and place the stool on a dry, level surface for stability.
