A post mounted mailbox is designed to be installed on a vertical post near the curb or roadside, making it easy for mail carriers to deliver letters and packages. These mailboxes come in various sizes and materials, like steel or plastic, to suit different needs.

• They're ideal for homes with driveways or yards.
• Installation usually involves attaching the mailbox to a sturdy post, which can be purchased separately or as part of a kit.
• Many models offer weather-resistant features and secure closures to help protect your mail.

Choosing the right style can add curb appeal and convenience to your home.

Some folks place dryer sheets in their mailbox to help deter insects, especially ants and wasps, which can sometimes build nests inside.

• Dryer sheets have a scent that may discourage bugs from settling.
• It's a simple, non-invasive trick that doesn't harm the mailbox or mail.
• Just tuck a sheet in the back or bottom of the mailbox and replace it every few weeks.

While this method can help, it's not a guaranteed solution, and regular cleaning is still recommended to keep your mailbox pest-free.

Before installing a mailbox post, it's a good idea to check with your local post office and city regulations.

• Some areas require permits or have guidelines about placement and height.
• The USPS has specific standards for mailbox installation to ensure safe and efficient mail delivery.
• Following these rules helps avoid issues with mail service and keeps your mailbox accessible for carriers.

Contacting your local authorities can help you stay compliant and make installation easier.

Most post mounted mailboxes sold at Walmart are designed to meet USPS standards, but it's important to check the product description for confirmation.

• USPS approval ensures the mailbox is the right size and shape for mail delivery.
• Approved mailboxes are easier for carriers to use and help prevent delivery delays.
• If you're unsure, you can ask your local post office or look for the "USPS approved" label when shopping.

Choosing an approved mailbox supports reliable mail service for your home.

Choosing the right mailbox size depends on your typical mail volume and package deliveries.

• Small mailboxes work well if you mostly receive letters.
• Medium or large options are better for frequent packages or magazines.
• Consider your home's curb space and any local guidelines.

Looking at your past mail habits can help you decide, and Walmart offers a variety of sizes to fit different needs and preferences.
