You’ll find a wide range of faux seashells designed for crafts and decor. Common options include:

• Molded plastic shells: Lightweight and durable for vase fillers and displays.
• Acrylic or resin minis: Tiny 0.3–0.5 in pieces for slime, mosaics, and sensory bins.
• Transparent synthetic shells: Glossy, glass-like accents that catch light nicely.
• Pre-drilled imitation discs: Shell-look ornaments for garlands and mobiles.
• Oversized decorative pieces: Larger faux conchs or clams for centerpieces.

Product titles and descriptions typically note materials like “plastic,” “acrylic,” “resin,” or “synthetic.” Pack sizes and size ranges vary, so choose what fits your project’s scale and style.

You can shop plastic and synthetic seashells on Walmart.com. To make it easier:

• Search keywords: Try “plastic seashells,” “synthetic seashells,” or “fake seashells.”
• Filter and browse: Explore related categories like Decorative Accents or Shop All Decor.
• Check details: Look for size ranges (e.g., minis vs. 3–4 in pieces), pack counts, and photos.
• Read reviews: Customer feedback can provide real-world sizing and quality notes.
• Choose fulfillment: Select shipping, store pickup, or delivery if available in your area.

Comparing materials, sizes, and quantities can help you match the assortment to your craft plan.

Several clues can help you spot a synthetic shell, though results may vary:

• Seams and repetition: Mold lines or identical shapes across a pack suggest plastic.
• Surface feel: Many plastics feel slick and uniformly smooth; natural shells often have subtle texture or growth lines.
• Color consistency: Perfectly even color or glitter finishes often indicate manmade materials.
• Weight-to-size: Plastic pieces may feel lighter than similarly sized natural shells.
• Product info: Descriptions that say “plastic,” “acrylic,” “resin,” or “synthetic” are the best indicators.

When in doubt, rely on item descriptions, close-up photos, and customer reviews rather than appearance alone.

Before collecting, it’s a good idea to learn the local rules and be mindful of wildlife.

• Regulations vary: Beaches and parks may have guidelines that limit or prohibit taking shells, especially if living organisms are present.
• Look for posted guidance: Check signs, local websites, or visitor centers for area-specific information.
• Consider alternatives: For crafts and events, purchasing natural or synthetic shells can provide consistent sizes without the uncertainty of gathering on-site.

If you’re unsure about local rules, choosing pre-packaged shells from a retailer can be a simple, reliable option.

A quick prep can help plastic shells look their best for projects:

• Rinse gently: Wash with warm water and a little mild dish soap to remove dust.
• Dry thoroughly: Air-dry on a towel so adhesives or paints adhere better.
• Avoid harsh cleaners: Solvents and scouring pads can scratch or dull finishes.
• Handle coatings carefully: For glittered or painted pieces, use a soft, barely damp cloth or a dry brush.
• Test adhesives: Try glue on a small, hidden spot first; high heat can warp some plastics.

These steps can help shells stay clean and craft-ready, but methods may vary by material and finish.
