You’ll see a few common terms used for plastic picture frames on our site. The wording can point to the material or the display style.

• Acrylic frames: Clear plastic frames, often double-sided or tabletop.
• Plexiglass/plexi cover: A clear acrylic front used instead of glass.
• Plastic poster frames: Lightweight frames for larger prints (e.g., 18x24, 24x36).
• PVC or polystyrene frames: Durable plastic frame bodies with a clear plastic front.
• Magnetic sleeves/frames: Flexible plastic holders for refrigerators or lockers.

If you’re browsing, look for keywords like “acrylic,” “plexiglass,” “plastic poster frame,” or “shatter-safe” to find the style and material that fit your needs.

A quick way is to match your photo’s size and decide if you want a mat. Many listings call this out in the title.

1. Match the print: A frame labeled 8x10 typically fits an 8x10 photo without a mat.
2. Consider a mat: Some frames include mats—e.g., an 11x14 frame may include a mat for an 8x10 photo, or an 8x10 frame may display a 5x7 with a mat.
3. Check posters: Poster frames often fit the exact poster size (like 18x24 or 24x36) without mats.
4. Confirm orientation: Many frames support horizontal or vertical display.

Product pages typically list “with mat” or “without mat,” so you can select with confidence.

Many plastic frames use clear acrylic (often called plexiglass) instead of traditional glass. This keeps them lighter and often described as “shatter-safe.”

• Poster and document frames: Commonly feature a plastic or acrylic front.
• Acrylic tabletop frames: The frame and cover are acrylic, sometimes double-sided.
• Magnetic photo holders: Flexible plastic fronts that attach to metal surfaces.

Materials can vary, so it helps to scan for terms like “acrylic cover,” “plexiglass,” “shatter-safe,” or “plastic front” in the product description. If you prefer a specific cover type, use site filters or search terms to narrow your options.

“Front loading” describes a frame that lets you insert or swap the photo from the front side rather than removing the entire back. It’s designed for quick updates and a clean look.

• Quick changes: Handy for certificates, kids’ art, or rotating photos.
• Wall or tabletop: Many front-loading styles support both display types.
• Neat profile: Often a slim, minimal frame edge.

Mechanisms vary by model—some slide the cover out, others unclip the front—so reviewing the product images and description can help you understand how it opens and whether it suits your space.

Many plastic frames offer flexible display options, and product titles usually note this.

• Tabletop display: Look for “tabletop,” “easel,” or “double-sided” for desks and shelves.
• Wall mounting: “Wall” or “hanging hardware included” indicates ready-to-hang designs; many support horizontal or vertical orientation.
• Magnetic options: Some plastic frames stick to fridges or lockers.

If you want both, search for “wall or tabletop” frames. Checking the photos and description can clarify whether a stand, hangers, or magnets are included so you can select the setup that fits your room.
