Most pitching machines are designed to use regulation-size baseballs or softballs, but it's important to check your machine's manual for specific requirements. Common sizes include:

• 9-inch baseballs for youth and adult machines
• 11-inch or 12-inch softballs for softball machines
• Special dimpled balls for certain machines

Using the correct size helps prevent jams and ensures consistent performance. If you're unsure, look for details on your machine or reach out to the manufacturer for guidance.

Foam pitching machine balls are a popular choice for indoor practice because they're lightweight and less likely to cause damage. Benefits include:

• Reduced risk of injury or property damage
• Quieter impact compared to traditional balls
• Suitable for all skill levels, including kids

Always make sure you have enough space and clear the area of breakables before starting your session. Foam balls can help you practice safely indoors, but supervision is recommended for younger players.

Keeping your pitching machine balls clean can help them last longer and perform better. Here's a simple way to clean them:

1. Wipe off dirt and debris with a damp cloth.
2. For tougher stains, use mild soap and water.
3. Let the balls air dry completely before using them again.

Avoid harsh chemicals or soaking the balls, as this can damage the material. Regular cleaning helps maintain grip and prevents buildup that could affect your machine.

Some pitching machines can use regular baseballs, but many work best with balls specifically designed for machines, like dimpled or training balls. Machine-specific balls often:

• Last longer under repeated use
• Reduce wear on the machine's wheels
• Provide more consistent pitches

Check your pitching machine's guidelines to see what's recommended. Using the right type of ball can help your machine run smoothly and extend its lifespan.

The number of pitching machine balls you'll need depends on your practice routine and group size. Consider these tips:

• For solo practice, a dozen balls can keep you going without constant reloading.
• For team drills, buckets of 24 or more are helpful.
• Having extra balls means less downtime and more reps.

Think about your practice goals and how often you'll use the machine. Having a good supply on hand makes training sessions more efficient and enjoyable.
