Both terms—t-fitting and tee fitting—are commonly used and refer to the same type of pipe connector. These fittings are shaped like the letter "T" and are designed to join three sections of pipe, allowing for a branch line at a 90-degree angle. Whether you see "t-fitting" or "tee fitting" on packaging or product listings, you can expect them to serve the same purpose in plumbing, air, or water systems. Just make sure the size and material match your project needs for a proper fit and long-lasting performance.

A pipe T (or tee fitting) is used to split or combine the flow of fluids or air in a piping system. Its T-shape allows you to connect three pipes together, making it easy to branch off from a main line or join two lines into one.

• It's great for creating new outlets in plumbing, heating, or air systems.
• You'll often find them in shower setups, water supply lines, or compressed air systems.

There are several types of T pipe connectors to fit different needs:

• Equal tee: All three ends are the same size.
• Reducing tee: One or more ends are a different size to connect pipes of varying diameters.
• Barbed tee: Designed for flexible hoses, often used in air or water lines.
• Threaded tee: Features threads for easy screw-on connections.
• Push-fit tee: Allows for quick, tool-free installation.

Reading T fitting sizes is all about matching the fitting to your pipes. Sizes are usually listed in inches or millimeters and refer to the diameter of the pipes the tee connects. For example, a "1/2" x 1/2" x 1/2"" tee means all three ends fit 1/2-inch pipes. If you see different numbers, like "3/4" x 1/2" x 3/4"", it means one branch is a different size. Always double-check the measurements on your pipes and the fitting to ensure a snug, leak-free connection.

Many tee fittings are designed for use with both water and air lines, but it's important to check the material and product specifications.

• Brass and stainless steel tees are often suitable for both applications due to their durability and resistance to corrosion.
• Plastic or PVC tees may be best for water or low-pressure air systems.
