When marinating meat, it's helpful to use containers that are non-reactive and easy to seal. Popular options include:

• Plastic containers with tight lids: These are lightweight, easy to clean, and often stackable for fridge storage.
• Glass containers: They don't absorb flavors or odors and are dishwasher safe.
• Stainless steel tubs: Durable and resistant to staining, making them a solid choice for repeated use.

Look for containers labeled as food-safe and ensure they fit the amount of food you're marinating without overcrowding.

Both bowls and bags can work for marinating, but each has its perks:

• Bags: Resealable bags help evenly coat food with less marinade and save fridge space. They're also easy for cleanup since you can discard them after use.
• Bowls or containers with lids: These are reusable, sturdy, and great for larger cuts or multiple pieces. They also prevent leaks and can double as storage containers.

Choose based on your recipe, available space, and preference for reusable or disposable options.

For marinating chicken, choose a container that's large enough for the pieces to lay flat and allows the marinade to cover them evenly. Airtight plastic or glass containers are popular since they're easy to clean and won't react with acidic ingredients. If you're prepping for a group, collapsible tubs or larger bins with lids can help keep everything organized. Always make sure the container is labeled food-safe and is easy to seal to avoid spills in your fridge.

Marinating in a plastic container can be safe as long as the container is labeled food-safe and BPA-free. Many kitchen storage containers are designed specifically for marinating and won't absorb flavors or odors. Avoid using old or scratched plastic containers, as they may harbor bacteria or leach chemicals. Always wash containers thoroughly after each use, and never reuse a marinade container for cooked food unless it's been properly cleaned.

To clean a marinade container, follow these steps:

1. Rinse out any leftover marinade immediately after use to prevent staining or odors.
2. Wash the container with hot, soapy water, scrubbing all surfaces and the lid.
3. If it's dishwasher safe, place it on the top rack for a thorough clean.
4. For stubborn smells, soak the container in a mixture of baking soda and water before rinsing.

Always dry completely before storing to help prevent mold or mildew.
